1tbspSoy Sauce or Tamari (for a gluten-free option)
½tspGround Ginger
¼tspRed Pepper Flakes (optional for spice)
Sesame Seeds, toasted (for garnish)
Fresh Lemon Wedges (for serving)
Instructions
Blanch Green Beans:Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed string beans and cook for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
Prepare Glaze:In a small bowl, whisk together Cairo Apiaries Raw Honey, olive oil, minced garlic, soy sauce or tamari, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well to create the honey glaze.
Cook Green Beans:In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the blanched green beans and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they are just starting to become tender.
Add Glaze:Pour the honey glaze over the string beans in the skillet. Toss well to coat the beans evenly with the glaze. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly and coats the green beans.
Serve:Transfer the honey-glazed string beans to a serving dish. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the beans for added crunch and flavor. Serve with fresh lemon wedges on the side.
Enjoy:Serve these Honey-Glazed String Beans hot as a delicious and nutritious side dish that pairs well with a variety of main courses, from grilled chicken to tofu stir-fry.
Notes
You can adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to suit your spice preference.
For a variation, add a splash of rice vinegar or lime juice to the honey glaze for a tangy twist.
Leftover honey-glazed green beans can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the microwave or on the stove.
