Honey-Braised Oxtail

Tender oxtail simmered with Cairo Apiaries Honey, browning, thyme, and pimento. Honey adds depth, richness, and natural browning.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds oxtail, cleaned
  • ¼ cup Cairo Apiaries Raw Honey
  • 2 tablespoons browning
  • 2 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • 2 teaspoons pimento
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Season the Oxtail
    Coat oxtail with salt, pepper, browning, pimento, and garlic.
  • Brown the Meat
    Heat oil in a pot and sear oxtail pieces on all sides.
  • Add Aromatics
    Add onion, thyme, and carrots; sauté for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add Liquids
    Stir in honey, soy sauce, and broth, scraping the bottom of the pot.
  • Slow Braise
    Cover and simmer for 2–3 hours until the meat is tender and sauce thickens.
  • Finish and Serve
    Adjust salt and serve warm with rice or mashed potatoes.
